Jackson's most expensive film up to that point.[3] Although it received positive reviews from critics, it was a box office bomb. It has since received a cult following, and is now widely regarded as one of the goriest films of all time.
 
Here’s a little synopsis before we talk about it. 
 
A young man's mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey. She gets sick and dies, at which time she comes back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors.
 
I forgot how much fun this movie was and how gory it was. It’s all practical effects. 
I purchased this in early 2000’s when I was old enough to snag rated r DVDs. I was blown away by the effects. Watching the original dawn of the dead I paused it at this one moment when this swat member that went nuts shooting anyone kicked the door open and shot a zombie. It was a dummy head that exploded but i paused it just before it blew up. Just to see how they did it. Scanners is another good one for practical effects also house and the monsters that are in it. 
 
 
 Lionel’s mom is an asshole  I’m lglad she got bit.  He was out on a date and his mom ruined it. He can’t have a life without her constantly needing something or being like I need you why are you so mean to me! 
 
I love stop motion effects even though they look cheesy I dig it. 
 
The stop-motion, puppet, and gory special effects for the 1992 cult classic film Dead Alive (also known as Braindead) were created by special effects artist Richard Taylor and his creative partner Tania Rodger
 
 
The custard scene is kinda fucked haha. 
The arm shot in the custard. 
Then it just starts ramping up. 
 
His mom reminds me of dead mites from evil dead by how they look. 
 
Nazi veterinary clinic dude drooling. I feel he was a Nazi back in the war by how he was acting. 
 
When the priest comes in I’m like what is going to happen then he says the line 
I love the priest I kick ass for the lord!

Welcome to the first episode of Fear Frame a horror movie podcast I’m Chris & I’m Devin today we are reviewing  964 Pinocchio.  Devin was awesome enough to Rip me a vhs copy of the movie and give me a vcr and dvd player combo I forgot how much I miss watching Vhs movies. The hiss of the vcr and the tape starting up. Ive been binging on vhs movies as of recently.

·       Haji Suzuki as Pinocchio, a memory wiped cyborg who was thrown out due to him having an erectile dysfunction. He later gets a metamorphosis before setting off in a rampage.
·       Onn-chan[1] as Himiko, A homeless girl who takes care of Pinocchio and draws maps of the city to aid other memory-wiped people. She later experiences a metamorphosis, causing her to envision a past version of herself stabbing something. After this, she betrays Pinocchio.
·       Mitsuji Otsubo as Narishima, a mercenary tasked with capturing Pinocchio under the orders of the head director.
·       Kyoko Hara as the Secretary, an assistant to the head director, known for her unsettling and surreal demeanor.
·       San’yutei Rakumaro as the Captain, a member of the team pursuing Pinocchio.
·       Hisashi Goda as the Hungry Ghost, a mysterious figure contributing to the film's hallucinatory tone.

Synopsys for the movie
Pinocchio 964, a lobotomised cyborg sex slave, is abandoned by his owners due to his inability to maintain an erection, while the corporate entity plans to kill him
This movie is a wild ride from start to finish I don’t want to spoil it if anyone wants to go check it out.  The grocery scene is so awesome no one in the store knows what to do they just stare at Pinocchio and Himiko grabbing food and eating it and her dragging him along.   While watching it I got aspects of Dragon ball z from the sound effects and actions like Pinocchio as he was running, if they did a Dragon ball z movie like this id watch it not that terrible one they made in the 2000’s that I watched on netflix. The special effects were gnarly the lady vomiting for 30 mins I was watching this while eating and im like uh ok. Haha  at the end he puts his hand into a guys stomach and the two characters on either side are just screaming and in aww and not moving just shocked When the credits roll I was left wondering what the hell I watched sitting down, the movie has a bunch of grunting and screaming and Asmr audio. Not as un nerving as some movies ive watched but close to it.

 While looking up information I noticed people talking about how it was shot gorilla style to get the reactions of the people in the crowds.  It is visual art in aspects I was drawn in at every shot it had aspects of Eraserhead for the crazy camera work and how it looked and Tetsuo the iron man that Director Fukui was assistant director on. They have a sequel to 964 Pinocchio called rubber’s lover.
Fukui cited Blade Runner, Possession and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as big influences on his work.
 
 
Release
The film was shown at the Rotterdam Film Festival, which Shozin never went despite the programmer seeing the film and had played it there. Shozin was also even given a photo of the audience at the festival during the screening.[4]
Unearthed Films released the film on DVD in the United States in 2007.[6]
The film was released in a single edition DVD and in the Cyberpunk Collection alongside Fukui's Rubber's Lover.[7]
964 Pinocchio was re-issued for the first time on Blu-Ray on February 7, 2023, by Media Blasters, and again for March 24, 2025 by 88 Films, including a booklet essay by Mark Player, Fukui's earlier short films, Gerorisuto and Caterpillar, along with both a filmed introduction from Stephen Thrower, a new interview with Fukui along with the aforementioned 2007 interview
What do you rate the movie out of 5 stars? I give it a 4 out of 5 on letterboxed I will have to check out rubber’s lover
